CONTEXT

Why this product exists.

Redivivas emerged from an urgent operational need in Alejandro's local church: fragmented communication, lost attendance records, and cumbersome manual growth reporting across dozens of decentralized cell groups.

PROBLEM / CHALLENGE

What needed solving.

The platform needed to support multi-tenant organizations with non-technical users, requiring strict security, hierarchical data structures, and foolproof weekly reporting workflows that field leaders could submit in seconds from mobile devices.

MY ROLE

Engineering responsibility.

Sole engineer responsible for entire product lifecycle: conceptualization, MySQL relational database architecture, object-oriented PHP backend, granular role-based access control, responsive UI with Tailwind CSS, and Docker/VPS deployment.

SOLUTION

How the application was built.

Engineered a modular, server-rendered PHP SaaS platform with MySQL relational modeling, automated report aggregation, role-based permission tiers (Pastors, Supervisors, Leaders, Members), and dynamic subscription tier enforcement.

Server-Rendered PHP 8 Architecture

Eliminated client-side framework overhead to ensure sub-50ms page loads on spotty mobile connections and direct server-side data validation.

Database Normalization with Composite Indexing

Designed relational schema separating organizational tenants while leveraging composite indexes for rapid aggregate reporting across hundreds of weekly records.

Containerized Linux VPS Deployment

Packaged PHP 8.2 FPM, Nginx, and MariaDB into Docker Compose with automated database backups and Cloudflare edge caching for reliable multi-organization uptime.

WHAT I LEARNED

Lessons from production.

Operating a production SaaS with real weekly deadlines taught that permissions must be explicit in domain models, schema migrations must be backward-compatible, and user empathy on mobile drives feature adoption.
